We also have chess, dice, everything that passes the time, that can be played well at the bar,” says Giuseppe, explaining the variety of the offer.
The special feature of Magic Max is its three-storey concept: on the upper floor, guests will find billiards tables; on the middle floor, there are more billiards tables, the bar and a restaurant. The former basement area, which used to house a bakery, has been completely remodeled and now houses a spacious event room with another billiards table that can be rented for private events and birthday parties.

With such a wide range of products on offer over several floors, a reliable point-of-sale system is indispensable. “The point-of-sale system plays a major role because we actually cover everything that concerns customer orders with the point-of-sale system. That includes collecting billiards, darts, food and drinks. And all this with several people in the evening,” emphasizes Giuseppe.
“The point-of-sale system has to run smoothly for us, so that you don't really have to study the product images much, everything is open and everything can be typed in using the product images.”

Typing in the names of customers we know makes it easier to see afterwards that Rolf or Peter has not yet paid for this or that.”

Giuseppe explains the motivation behind it: “We have now offered the self-service function because we have three floors and from the lower floor to the upper floor there are three flights of stairs that you have to walk if you have to ask every time whether they need anything.”
The solution enables guests in the basement area to order and pay independently: “And so people can actually order and pay for their food on the lower floor using the self-service function. And we have a receipt afterwards, which shows us that someone has ordered something, so we can quickly prepare the order and bring it to the guest.”
Digital receipts for more sustainability
During the conversation, Giuseppe also discovered the option of offering paperless receipts with Paymash. This function, which generates a QR code that customers can scan with their smartphone, fits perfectly with the modern concept of Magic Max.
“That's a good idea. Okay, I'll give it a try,” Giuseppe responded enthusiastically to this suggestion. The option of still printing conventional receipts if needed, but to default to the more sustainable digital version, is in line with the company's contemporary approach.
